Many people are suffering from piles all over the world. But only a few of them can understand what is piles.
Here I want to explain what exactly the piles mean.
I want to answer all the common questions related to queries of piles.
(Piles and hemorrhoids are synonyms )
Qu.1) what is piles?
In India, people think any anal Canal bleeding is Piles. Hence they themself coin the term ‘piles’ for any anal bleeding.
But piles is only ‘hemorrhoid’. ( Not related to fistula, fissure or any other pathology)
Hence from this onward I will explain what is hemorrhoid.
Hemorrhoids are dilated anal cushions that normally present in the anal canal to act as a watertight seal of the anus.
Because of these cushions, our body prevents the wetting of undergarments from fecal matter.
These cushions contain dilated veins in a bundle with overlying thin mucosa.
When these veins get more dilated, the overlying mucosa thinned out and became prone to bleeding, whenever there is external pressure exerted by constipated stool.
Qu. 2) why do piles develop?
The exact theory behind the development of hemorrhoids not available but many factors contributed to it.
1] Hereditary
2] Irregular diet and bowel habits
3] Taking a low fiber diet
4] Avoiding defecation call of our body on time.
5] Pregnancy
6] Habitual constipation
These are the few factors which are responsible for the development of hemorrhoid.
Exact procedure
Whenever there is a constipated stool, whenever there is forceful defecation, it causes pressure over the rectal mucosa which in turn blocks the vessels and causes dilation of veins of anal cushions.
Qu. 3) Why do piles bleed?
Because of the increase in pressure in the rectum,
daily due to habit of forceful defecation or
the habit of constipation or
the pressure of enlarged uterus in pregnancy,
the veins of anal cushions get more and more dilated and overlying mucosa became more and thinner. Through this more thinned mucosa the dilated veins ruptured whenever there is external friction or pressure of constipated stool while defecation.
And these ruptured veins caused profuse bleeding while defecation.
(This is the end of 3 questions. The remaining questions I will post in the next blog. Thank you for spending time over my blog)
